Walk In Our Shoes was a week long national event organised by TreeHouse which took place in the week beginning 21 June 2010.
This event was an opportunity for families of children with disabilities to invite their local decision-maker to spend a short amount of time with them to experience the reality of living with disabilities and to strengthen the relationship between families and local decision-makers.
Over 30 key decision makers across England took part in this event, including two Ministers, MPs, Councillors and senior local authority and PCT representatives. We are delighted that there was so much support and enthusiasm for this event - from both parents and professionals in our four local authority areas and beyond! We are particularly delighted to have had the support of Tim Loughton MP and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families who visited a family in his constituency. We are looking forward to updating everyone on the outcomes from the continued positive dialogue between local families and decision-makers.
